Be concrete and singular. Pick one experience and go deep. A specific scene with a real person and a real moment of change beats a broad reflection on your whole high-school career.

For Honors, prepare to write two more. The South Carolina Honors College sends two prompts after you apply. Budget time for them — Honors is a distinct, more selective read, and the essays feed top scholarship consideration.
