What They're Really Looking For

Essay 1 needs the origin AND the fit. Auburn Honors asks for your goals, the experiences that shaped them, and how the Honors College furthers them. Cover all three — a goal with no origin, or no concrete Honors connection, leaves it half-answered.

Pick the Essay 2 prompt you can make specific. The object, the "flow" activity, and the quote all reward one concrete, particular thing — a real object with a real story beats a philosophical abstraction about any of them.

Show, don't claim. Auburn Honors reads for genuine intellectual character. Reveal it through a specific scene or decision rather than stating "I am curious and driven."

Answering only half of Honors Essay 1. The prompt has two parts — your goals and their origin, AND how Auburn's Honors College specifically furthers them — and applicants routinely nail the goals but never connect to the program. A goal with no origin story, or an Honors essay that could be sent to any honors college, both underperform.
